Services / Service details
Individual assessment of persistent symptoms after COVID-19.
Symptoms may persist or begin after a SARS-CoV-2 infection. Long COVID includes various ongoing health effects. Symptoms vary widely, and other treatable causes must also be considered.
Exhaustion, reduced capacity, concentration difficulties, breathing symptoms or palpitations may occur. Delayed worsening after physical or mental effort, known as post-exertional malaise (PEM), is particularly important and should inform care planning.
We assess timing, daily impact and responses to exertion. Examination and targeted investigations follow the symptoms. Where needed, we coordinate suitable specialists and other care services.
Treatment is adapted to symptoms and activity limits. With PEM, overexertion is avoided; a blanket programme of increasing exercise is inappropriate. We support practical adaptations, necessary reviews and rehabilitation or social and occupational questions where relevant. A fixed recovery time cannot be guaranteed.
We discuss which changes to watch for in everyday life and when another check-up would be useful. Your questions, personal goals and how well you tolerate treatment inform further decisions. Where needed, we coordinate with your treating specialists.
Bring your health insurance card, recent medical letters, existing test results and a medication list. Note any changes in your symptoms and your main questions. Do not change existing treatment yourself; we will discuss together whether adjustments are needed.
