Back pain

Managing recurrent symptoms and encouraging activity.

Understanding the condition

Back pain can involve muscles, joints, discs and nerves. Often no single structural cause can be identified, but symptoms are still real. Duration, limitations and possible warning signs determine the next steps.

Common symptoms

Pain may stay local or radiate and worsen with certain movements. Sleep, work and emotional wellbeing may be affected. Increasing weakness, bladder or bowel problems, fever or symptoms after a serious accident require prompt assessment.

Diagnosis and assessment

We discuss progression, previous treatments and daily impact. Examination assesses movement and, where needed, nerve function. Imaging is useful for specific questions but is not automatically required before treatment.

Treatment and ongoing care

Adapted activity and strengthening are often central. Physiotherapy, pain treatment and strategies for handling strain may complement care. Digital movement therapy can be used for suitable indications. We agree goals that fit your abilities and daily life.

Monitoring your progress together

We discuss which changes to watch for in everyday life and when another check-up would be useful. Your questions, personal goals and how well you tolerate treatment inform further decisions. Where needed, we coordinate with your treating specialists.

Your appointment at the practice

Bring your health insurance card, recent medical letters, existing test results and a medication list. Note any changes in your symptoms and your main questions. Do not change existing treatment yourself; we will discuss together whether adjustments are needed.
