Taking persistent exhaustion seriously and investigating possible causes.
Tiredness can result from insufficient sleep, everyday demands or recovery after an infection. Medical assessment is worthwhile when it persists, is unusually severe or significantly limits daily life. A vitamin deficiency is only one of many possible explanations.
Sleep disorders, anaemia, thyroid problems, certain medicines and psychological strain may play a part. Lasting effects of infections or other physical conditions are also possible. We consider your overall situation and select tests carefully instead of routinely ordering extensive laboratory panels.
Important details include when symptoms started, how they change during the day, sleep quality, diet and other symptoms such as weight loss, fever or palpitations. An examination and, where appropriate, selected blood tests follow. Treatment depends on the findings. Supplements or infusions without a demonstrated need are not a general solution for exhaustion.
Note which activities are possible and whether symptoms worsen some time after physical or mental effort. Such deterioration after exertion should be discussed, particularly following infections. We arrange suitable follow-up and discuss practical steps. Severe new breathlessness, chest pain or altered consciousness require immediate help.
Please describe your current symptoms when arranging an appointment. Bring your health insurance card, existing medical reports and an up-to-date medication list. Together, we will decide which next steps are appropriate for your situation.
