Influenza is genuine flu and can be much more serious than a common cold. We offer seasonal vaccination at our practice. STIKO recommends it particularly for people aged 60 and over, pregnant women and people with certain existing conditions. We discuss whether it is recommended for you individually.
RKI: influenza vaccination recommendation
Influenza can start suddenly with fever, cough, headache and aching muscles. It can be severe, especially in older people and those with certain existing conditions. Vaccination reduces the risk of illness and severe disease, but does not provide complete protection against every respiratory infection.
STIKO recommends seasonal vaccination for groups including people aged 60 and over, people with certain chronic conditions, pregnant women and those with increased occupational risk. Protecting particularly vulnerable contacts may also be relevant. We assess the recommendation according to your circumstances.
Vaccination is usually planned annually before or at the beginning of the flu season. Vaccine composition is adapted to expected virus variants. The appropriate vaccine depends on factors including age and current recommendations.
Temporary injection-site pain, tiredness or other general reactions can occur. We discuss existing allergies and previous vaccine reactions beforehand. Statutory health insurers generally cover recommended vaccinations under applicable rules; additional services should be clarified individually.
Bring your vaccination record and medication list, and tell us about acute illnesses, allergies and previous vaccine reactions. We check whether vaccination can be given now and whether any other vaccinations are missing.
