Vaccinations for occupational risk

Individual planning of work-related infection protection.

Why protection matters

Certain work involves increased infection risk, including healthcare, nursing, laboratory work and other exposures. Suitable vaccination depends on specific duties and contact, not the job title alone.

Who may benefit

Contact with blood, sick people, animals or particular pathogens can be relevant. We also discuss work-related travel and previous vaccination. Occupational health services may be responsible for risk assessment and vaccination.

Planning and particular considerations

We review existing vaccinations, current occupational recommendations and any required documentation. Response testing may be useful for certain vaccines. Bring information from your employer or occupational health team. Responsibility and reimbursement are clarified beforehand.

Information and observation

Before vaccination, we discuss underlying conditions, medicines, allergies and previous vaccine reactions. You receive information on benefits and possible side effects. A short observation period follows. Pain or redness at the injection site and temporary general symptoms may occur; more severe or lasting symptoms should receive medical assessment.

Costs and reimbursement

Medically recommended vaccinations may be covered by statutory insurance under the applicable vaccination directive. The specific indication and your insurance cover determine eligibility. Occupational vaccination may be the responsibility of occupational health services. We discuss scope and any charges in advance.

Your appointment at the practice

Bring your vaccination record and an up-to-date medication list. Mention planned travel, pregnancy or immunosuppressive treatment. The vaccination series and boosters depend on the vaccine and current recommendations.
