Heart and vascular conditions

Assessing risks, symptoms and existing findings together.

Understanding the condition

Heart and vascular conditions include various problems such as coronary artery disease, impaired circulation in the legs and heart valve changes. An accurate diagnosis matters because treatment and monitoring differ according to the cause.

Common symptoms

Chest tightness, breathlessness, swollen legs, palpitations or reduced exercise capacity may warrant investigation. Some conditions first become apparent through measurements. New severe chest pain or sudden breathlessness require an emergency call to 112.

Diagnosis and assessment

We review symptoms, previous findings and risk factors. Blood pressure measurements, an ECG and appropriate blood tests support GP assessment. Additional tests such as heart ultrasound or specific vascular investigations are arranged with specialists where indicated.

Treatment and ongoing care

We support the agreed treatment, review tolerability and coordinate monitoring with cardiology or vascular specialists. Appropriate exercise, stopping smoking and managing blood pressure, diabetes and lipid disorders are also important. The plan reflects your individual health.

Monitoring your progress together

We discuss which changes to watch for in everyday life and when another check-up would be useful. Your questions, personal goals and how well you tolerate treatment inform further decisions. Where needed, we coordinate with your treating specialists.

Your appointment at the practice

Bring your health insurance card, recent medical letters, existing test results and a medication list. Note any changes in your symptoms and your main questions. Do not change existing treatment yourself; we will discuss together whether adjustments are needed.
