Assessment of lasting COVID-19 effects

A structured consultation about symptoms following COVID-19.

Understanding the condition

This assessment helps interpret persistent symptoms after COVID-19. There is no single blood test or fixed set of investigations that reliably identifies every lasting effect. The assessment reflects your symptoms and possible alternative causes.

Common symptoms

Relevant symptoms include breathlessness, exhaustion, palpitations, sleep difficulties and concentration problems. Note any delayed worsening after exertion. Progression and limitations compared with your previous daily activities are important.

Diagnosis and assessment

We discuss the infection, previous findings and current symptoms. Selected blood tests, ECG, lung function testing or other investigations may be appropriate. Normal results from individual tests do not automatically explain all symptoms.

Treatment and ongoing care

We explain findings clearly and plan symptom-focused support, suitable reviews and specialist assessment where needed. Activity is managed individually, especially with PEM. Medically necessary investigations and additional tests requested by patients are distinguished in advance.

Monitoring your progress together

We discuss which changes to watch for in everyday life and when another check-up would be useful. Your questions, personal goals and how well you tolerate treatment inform further decisions. Where needed, we coordinate with your treating specialists.

Your appointment at the practice

Bring your health insurance card, recent medical letters, existing test results and a medication list. Note any changes in your symptoms and your main questions. Do not change existing treatment yourself; we will discuss together whether adjustments are needed.
