Blood lipids

Considering cholesterol and triglycerides within your personal risk profile.

Understanding the condition

Blood lipids include cholesterol and triglycerides. Abnormal levels can indicate a lipid metabolism disorder. Their significance depends on the particular result and overall health.

Common symptoms

Raised blood lipids often cause no immediate symptoms. Family history, certain illnesses, medicines and diet may contribute. Existing vascular disease also affects how intensively levels should be treated.

Diagnosis and assessment

We select suitable blood tests and explain LDL, HDL and triglycerides. Whether fasting is needed is clarified beforehand according to the question being investigated. Abnormal results are considered alongside possible causes and other risks.

Treatment and ongoing care

Dietary changes, activity and medicines may be appropriate depending on risk. We agree targets and timing of follow-up together. A single reading should neither cause unnecessary alarm nor be dismissed without assessment; long-term vascular health is central.

Monitoring your progress together

We discuss which changes to watch for in everyday life and when another check-up would be useful. Your questions, personal goals and how well you tolerate treatment inform further decisions. Where needed, we coordinate with your treating specialists.

Your appointment at the practice

Bring your health insurance card, recent medical letters, existing test results and a medication list. Note any changes in your symptoms and your main questions. Do not change existing treatment yourself; we will discuss together whether adjustments are needed.
