Acupuncture

Discussing complementary treatment options individually.

Acupuncture as a complementary treatment

Acupuncture uses fine needles at selected points on the body. It may be considered as a complementary option for certain chronic pain conditions. First, the cause of symptoms needs assessment and suitable alternatives should be considered.

Procedure and possible effects

After a consultation, we decide whether the method fits your concern. Needles remain in place for a set time. Improvement is not guaranteed and benefits depend on the symptoms. Acupuncture does not replace necessary treatment of the underlying cause.

Safety and costs

Tell us about blood-thinning medication, relevant conditions and possible pregnancy. Small bruises or pain at needle sites can occur. Statutory insurers cover acupuncture only for certain conditions and under specified requirements. We discuss the indication, treatment scope and possible personal costs beforehand.

Planning the next steps together

We explain findings clearly and discuss measures suited to your circumstances. If further tests or specialist input are needed, we help plan them. Please bring existing reports and an up-to-date list of medication and supplements.

Your appointment at the practice

Please bring existing medical reports and an up-to-date medication list. We discuss any special preparation, the exact scope and possible costs when arranging your appointment.
