Carefully coordinated vaccination with reduced immune defences.
Inherited or acquired immune deficiency and certain medicines can increase infection risk. Vaccine responses may also be reduced, so vaccine selection and timing need individual planning.
Reasons for advice include immunosuppressive treatment, certain autoimmune conditions, HIV or planned therapies affecting immunity. Not all impairment is the same; the type and degree of immunosuppression determine the approach.
Live and non-live vaccines require different assessment. Live vaccines may be unsuitable for certain forms of immunosuppression. Protection is reviewed before treatment starts where possible. We coordinate intervals, possible checks and vaccination of close contacts with the relevant specialists.
Before vaccination, we discuss underlying conditions, medicines, allergies and previous vaccine reactions. You receive information on benefits and possible side effects. A short observation period follows. Pain or redness at the injection site and temporary general symptoms may occur; more severe or lasting symptoms should receive medical assessment.
Medically recommended vaccinations may be covered by statutory insurance under the applicable vaccination directive. The specific indication and your insurance cover determine eligibility. Occupational vaccination may be the responsibility of occupational health services. We discuss scope and any charges in advance.
Bring your vaccination record and an up-to-date medication list. Mention planned travel, pregnancy or immunosuppressive treatment. The vaccination series and boosters depend on the vaccine and current recommendations.
