Discussing weight, health and practical treatment goals.
Obesity is a chronic condition with multiple causes. Weight is influenced by biological factors, daily life, medicines and the environment. Treatment considers health, symptoms and personal goals, not just a number on the scales.
Excess weight can be associated with joint symptoms, sleep problems or limited exercise tolerance. Additional risks for diabetes, high blood pressure or fatty liver are common. Weight does not explain every symptom, so careful assessment remains important.
We discuss changes in weight, eating habits, activity, sleep and previous treatment. Examination and selected blood tests can identify associated conditions. Medicines or hormonal disorders are also considered where relevant.
Treatment combines approaches to nutrition, activity and behaviour. Depending on the situation, a suitable digital application, specialist services, medication or assessment for surgery may complement care. We support realistic steps and lasting stability. A blanket diet or promises of rapid weight loss do not adequately address the condition.
We discuss which changes to watch for in everyday life and when another check-up would be useful. Your questions, personal goals and how well you tolerate treatment inform further decisions. Where needed, we coordinate with your treating specialists.
Bring your health insurance card, recent medical letters, existing test results and a medication list. Note any changes in your symptoms and your main questions. Do not change existing treatment yourself; we will discuss together whether adjustments are needed.
