Long-term ECG

Recording heart rhythm over an extended period.

What to expect

A portable device records the heart's electrical activity over an extended period. We explain its use, discuss associated symptoms and interpret the results medically.

Assessing an irregular heartbeat

Palpitations or a racing heart sometimes occur only intermittently and may not appear on a short resting ECG. A long-term ECG records the heart's electrical activity during everyday life, often over 24 hours.

Recording and assessment

Electrodes on the skin connect to a portable recorder. We explain the agreed recording duration and how to handle the device when fitting it. Note symptoms with their time and activity where possible so we can compare them with the recording. Digital analysis supports review; a doctor checks the final findings.

Before your appointment

Please bring existing medical reports and an up-to-date medication list. We discuss any special preparation, the exact scope and possible costs when arranging your appointment.
